On 28 July 2026, an Iraqi Army delegation led by the commander of the 20th Infantry Division visited Sinjar’s old market, where Ezidis raised concerns over missing relatives, unrecovered remains and unresolved rights.

Residents stressed that many families are still waiting for the remains of their relatives to be identified and returned.

During the meeting, an Iraqi army official said that the prime minister may visit Sinjar to meet residents and young people. The proposed visit has not yet been officially confirmed.
