A fire has destroyed 14 tents belonging to displaced Ezidis at the Sharia IDP Camp in Duhok, northern Iraq.
The incident was reported on 16 August and preliminary information indicated that no casualties had been reported, while the cause of the fire remained unknown.
Video footage shared from the camp shows extensive damage, with several tent structures reduced to burned metal frames as people worked to extinguish the remaining fire.
The incident proves the vulnerability of Ezidi families who continue to live in displacement more than twelve years after the 2014 genocide. Many remain dependent on temporary camp accommodation while facing difficult living conditions and uncertainty over a permanent return home.
