During his visit to Iraq from January 21 to 24, 2025, Minister of State Tobias Lindner focused on the country’s political transition and the situation of its minorities, especially the Ezidis. As Iraq approaches its upcoming elections, Lindner sought to evaluate progress in areas such as the return of internally displaced persons to their homes and efforts to investigate the crimes committed by ISIS.

A key part of Lindner’s discussions was dedicated to the Ezidis, who endured immense suffering under ISIS rule. He highlighted the ongoing challenges they face and emphasised the importance of delivering justice for the victims of ISIS atrocities.

Ezidi Times hopes that Minister of State Lindner’s visit to Iraq will prove beneficial for the Ezidi community and serve as a turning point in addressing their ongoing struggles. The visit offers a vital opportunity to ensure that the Iraqi government takes meaningful action in acknowledging and addressing the injustices faced by the Ezidis. It is crucial that the Iraqi government doesn’t continue with its mistreatment of the Ezidi people, and that steps are taken to bring justice to those who suffered under ISIS. The Ezidis hopes for a future of safety, justice, and dignity hinge on the international community’s commitment to holding the Iraqi government accountable.
