Hertfordshire District to Host Ceremony on Holocaust Day

Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council in Hertfordshire, England, will host its annual Holocaust Memorial Day on January 27, 2025. This year’s event, while honoring the victims of the Holocaust, will also pay tribute to those affected by more recent genocides, including the 2014 Ezidi genocide.
The theme for this year’s ceremony is “For a Better Future,” with a focus on educating people about the devastating impact of genocide and inspiring action to prevent future atrocities. The event aims to prevent future genocides by learning from the past and taking action to prevent new atrocities.
The service will begin at 11:00 a.m. at the Campus Roundabout in Welwyn Garden City. Local officials and guest speakers will hold speeches. The ceremony will conclude with a moment of silence in memory of the victims, followed by the release of doves as a symbol of peace.
The Holocaust Memorial Day is held annually on the 27th January to mark the liberation of Auschwitz-Birkenau death-camp. Read more about the annual Holocaust Memorial Day here.
