Dohuk, Iraq — The Yazidi Cause Alliance has issued a statement in support of a peaceful protest held on 6 July 2026 by Chaldeans, Syriacs and Assyrians in front of the Dohuk Governorate building, where demonstrators demanded the implementation of judicial rulings and the removal of encroachments on their historical lands and villages.

The protest concerns land disputes and alleged encroachments affecting Chaldean–Syriac–Assyrian lands, including in Keshkawa. Protesters have called on the authorities to enforce court decisions and return land to its rightful owners.

In its statement, issued on 6 July 2026 from Shingal, the Yazidi Cause Alliance said it “announces its full solidarity with the peaceful protest vigil organized by the Christian minority of Chaldeans, Syriacs, and Assyrians in front of the Dohuk Governorate building.”

The Alliance stated that the continued encroachments and delays in implementing judicial rulings represent “a serious violation of the rule of law and an attempt to impose a fait accompli at the expense of the rightful landowners.

It also condemned reported attempts to prevent peaceful demonstrators from reaching the protest site, describing this as an obstruction of the constitutional right to peaceful expression.

The Yazidi Cause Alliance further stated that the issue is not isolated, but part of broader policies that have also affected Ezidis in areas such as Sheikhan, Khaniki and Sharja through land seizures and demographic change.

The Alliance called on the relevant governmental and judicial authorities to immediately halt the encroachments, implement judicial rulings without delay, hold those responsible accountable, and protect the historical presence of authentic peoples on their lands.

Concluding its statement, the Yazidi Cause Alliance said that “the rule of law is not achieved through slogans, but rather by returning lands to their rightful owners, ending the logic of force, and imposing faits accomplis.
