Iraq’s First Deputy Speaker, Adnan Faihan Al-Dulaimi, met with parliamentary and institutional representatives on Sunday, 20 September, to discuss a proposed first amendment to the Ezidi Female Survivors Law and its provisions covering other groups.
The meeting, held at his office, brought together MP Mukhtar Al-Mousawi, a representative of the Diwani Order Committee on Abductees, and representatives of the Holy Imam Hussein Shrine and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
Faihan called for closer coordination between the relevant authorities and parliamentary committees to accelerate discussions and bring the amendment before an upcoming parliamentary session for a vote. He stressed the need to secure the legal rights of those affected.
He also called for records to be consolidated and verified to support the processing of cases related to the amendment and ensure that all eligible beneficiaries are covered within the legal framework.
The statement issued by his media office did not detail the proposed changes or announce a date for a parliamentary vote.
