Iraqi President Nizar Amedi has reaffirmed that delivering justice for the Ezidi people remains a national responsibility that must be fulfilled.
The statement was made during a meeting at Al-Salam Palace in Baghdad with a delegation of Ezidi representatives and leaders. The discussion focused on the remaining humanitarian, legal, and social issues affecting Ezidis after the 2014 genocide committed by ISIS.

President Amedi emphasized the need for stronger coordination between state institutions to ensure that commitments to survivors and affected families are carried out. Key issues include determining the fate of missing Ezidis, supporting families still searching for answers, and creating conditions for the safe, voluntary, and dignified return of displaced Ezidi families to their homes.
The meeting also addressed the importance of rebuilding damaged areas, restoring basic services, and protecting the rights and dignity of returnees. These steps remain central to justice, stability, and long-term recovery for Ezidis in Iraq.
We are still yet to witness whether the promises made to Ezidis regarding justice, accountability, and the rebuilding of Ezidi life to what it was before the genocide will be fulfilled — or whether they will remain only words.
