An Ezidi cultural house in Gönüllü-Derdile village, located in the Gercüş district of Batman, has become part of a local heritage landscape where an Ezidi cultural site, a Syriac church, and the Sheikh Ahmed tomb stand side by side.
The cultural house, named Quba Kaniya Pire Ali, was established last year with support from the Germany-based Alliance for the Renewal and Protection of Ezidi Sacred Sites. According to local reporting, the site receives visitors from abroad, especially during the summer season.
Ezidis involved in the establishment of the cultural house also contributed to the renovation of the Sheikh Ahmed tomb. The site includes spaces connected to prayer, spring water, and hospitality for visitors.
The village is presented in local reporting as a place where different religious and cultural heritage sites exist close to one another. The nearby Syriac church is also expected to undergo restoration, as it is located within a protected historical area.
The cultural house and the restored tomb reflect ongoing Ezidi efforts to preserve sacred and cultural heritage, including through diaspora-supported initiatives.
