The Importance of Women in Society

Have you ever asked yourself what the importance of women in society truly is? And have you thought about the challenges women face around the world and how those challenges can be reduced?

In every society, women are the ones who shape the future by raising, teaching, and giving emotional support. Society is never complete without women. They are half of the population, and they raise the other half. This is not just a sentence people say; you can see it in their actions and how they influence everything around them.

Families are the foundation of every society, and women are at the center of that foundation. So do you not think that a society’s true power is measured by how it treats its women?

Even with limited support, constant challenges, and a world that often favours men, women never stop. They continue to give, to care, and to lead. They carry responsibility quietly, without always being recognised for it. They keep families together during conflict, poverty, and displacement. They protect traditions while also encouraging progress.

For example, Ezidi women have shown incredible strength and courage. Despite facing extreme violence, displacement, and social challenges, they continue to protect their families, educate their children, and preserve their culture. Their resilience is living proof that women do not just survive hardship; they transform it into strength.

After the attack by Islamic State in 2014, many Ezidi women were kidnapped and enslaved. The trauma was unimaginable. Yet instead of disappearing into silence, many became voices for justice and survival. They fought to reclaim their dignity and support their people. Even today, they continue rebuilding their lives while helping others heal.

I remember when we were forced to leave our homes. Life in the camps was never easy. Everything felt temporary and uncertain. Yet it was women who planted trees and flowers in dry soil. It may seem like a small act, but it meant something bigger; it was a sign that life continues, that hope continues, that beauty can still exist even after destruction.

We can also see women inspiring young people across the world. Nadia Murad is one powerful example. She showed that using your voice is not weakness; it is strength. She reminded us that even after the darkest experiences, it is possible to stand up and speak for justice.

Women are not simply participants in society; they are builders of it. They raise future generations, teach values, support families, and strengthen Ezidis. They work, create, lead, and endure. A society that ignores or limits women does not stay strong; it slowly weakens itself.

Yet the challenges remain serious. Women face unfair treatment, violence, discrimination, and pressure to remain silent. Many are denied education or equal opportunities. Some live under strict traditions that limit their choices. Emotional abuse and social judgment silence many voices before they are even heard. These problems do not harm women alone; they harm entire societies.

Change is possible, but it requires awareness, courage, and action. Education must be accessible. Laws must protect. Communities must listen. Respect must replace silence.

Support women. Protect them. Listen to them.

Because when women rise, humanity rises with them.

And I want to ask you all:

What could the world become if every woman’s voice were truly heard?
