A youth delegation from the Ezidi Cultural Centre of Georgia completed an exchange visit to Oldenburg, Germany, on 1 October 2026, strengthening ties between young Ezidis in Tbilisi and Oldenburg.
The delegation was led by Rafael Ajamian and Nino Pirbari, representatives of the Ezidi Cultural Centre of Georgia. The visit formed part of an ongoing youth-exchange programme and followed earlier visits by young people from Oldenburg to Tbilisi over recent years.
For many participants from Tbilisi, the programme offered a first opportunity to meet Ezidis living in Germany and to see how traditions, everyday life and cultural identity are maintained in a different country. The exchange also created space for young people to discuss both the shared elements of Ezidi life and the different experiences shaped by migration, family histories and local circumstances.
The delegation’s first day in Oldenburg included an introductory meeting at the city’s Ezidi House, where participants were welcomed by local Ezidis. During the visit, the group also travelled to Oldenburg, Hamburg and Bremerhaven, visiting local landmarks and meeting public figures.

The programme placed young people at the centre of cultural exchange between the two countries. By bringing participants together directly, it allowed them to build personal connections and gain a broader understanding of the ways Ezidi identity, traditions and cultural life are sustained across Europe.
The organisers described the visit as an important step in strengthening cooperation between Ezidis in Georgia and Germany. Continued exchanges can help create lasting connections between young people while supporting the preservation and development of Ezidi culture for future generations.
