Happy Ezidi New Year – 6775
Today is the Ezidi New Year 6775 — a celebration of life, tradition, and the enduring strength of our people.
From Lalish to Shingal and to every corner of the world, Ezidis stand united in honoring our ancient roots and our faith in Sharfadin. On this sacred day, we look to the future with hope while remaining deeply connected to the wisdom of the past.
May 6775 be a year of unity, dignity, and renewal for all Ezidis.

To our brothers and sisters still living in IDP-camps — you are not forgotten. Your strength and perseverance are a living symbol of our resilience. We think of you and it saddens us that we haven’t been able to help you, yet. We always remember you and we will all do our best to support you as much as we possibly can.
Sersalê we pîroz be!
Bijî Ezidî, Bijî Ezidîxan!
What Does the Ezidi New Year Symbolize?
The Ezidi New Year, known as Sersal, is one of the oldest and most sacred holidays in our tradition. It is celebrated annually on the first Wednesday after April 13th, based on the traditional Ezidi calendar.
Our traditions on this day include:
Coloring eggs, symbolizing the moment in Ezidi mythology when Tawûsî Melek descended to Earth and, with his presence, brought color and life to the world.
Decorating homes and doorways with tulips and eggshells, celebrating spring and the rebirth of nature.
Wearing traditional attire and exchanging greetings with loved ones, strengthening our bonds of kinship and cultural pride.
