Terrorist supporter online: “A salute to ISIS for what they did to the Yazidis (Ezidis)”

On January 29, 2025, activist Salwan Momika was killed in his home in Södertälje, Sweden. Momika was a Christian from Iraq who had fought against ISIS. In 2018, he moved to Sweden and quickly became well known for burning qurans. By doing so, Momika sought to express his opposition to Muslim extremists and perhaps also to raise awareness of the atrocities ISIS committed against the Ezidis and Christians in the Middle East.

Momika’s actions sparked outrage both among Muslims in Sweden and internationally. His protests led to the storming of the Swedish Embassy in Baghdad by hundreds of enraged Muslims. He was being prosecuted for incitement against an ethnic group (Swedish: “hets mot folkgrupp”) and was due to receive his verdict on January 30. However, since he was murdered the day before, the prosecution dropped the case.

Ezidi Times extends its heartfelt condolences to Salwan Momika’s family and friends. May he rest in peace, and may his death not be in vain. Although Momika is no longer alive, his name and cause will be remembered for a long time.

Whenever we think that nothing more can shock us, we are proven wrong. Recently, a video has been circulating in which Salwan Momika had a live “argument” with a woman living in Belgium. In the video, the woman expresses strong support for ISIS and salutes what ISIS did to the Ezidis.

The woman’s TikTok account has been identified, and comments on social media indicate that Belgian police have been alerted about her statements and apparent support for terrorists.

In the video, the woman engages in an online argument with Salwan Momika and says the following in both English and Arabic:

“A salute to ISIS and I swear I have done enough for them.

A salute to ISIS for what they did to the Yazidis (Ezidis).

A salute to the Muslims but I told you, they are not men.

A salute to Islam at this moment, a salute to the jihad, a salute to the jihadist who married the daughter of a daughter.”

Ezidi Times has analyzed her TikTok account and found that despite being a strong supporter of ISIS and jihad, she appears to live a “modern” life. She supports jihad, yet she does not follow its laws. How ironic and contradictory that she wants her “ISIS brothers” to beat, rape, and murder women and girls, yet she enjoys the benefits of being a modern woman in a democratic country where she is considered equal to men.

She has more than 100,000 followers on TikTok, giving her a significant platform to spread extremist ideology and support for ISIS. Not only does this amplify her dangerous rhetoric, but it also increases her potential to recruit new ISIS supporters.

– If you are so fond of ISIS, why don’t you move to Iraq or Syria to live under the jihadist laws you so proudly salute?

This is yet another example that proves that ISIS-women who claim that they have been fooled or forced into accepting what the ISIS-husbands are doing and that they too are victims of what the men are doing. For instance, in the Swedish case where the ISIS-woman (Lina Ishaq) is being prosecuted (verdict will be proclaimed in mid February 2025), her defence has been that she did nit have power or any contribution for enslaving Ezidi children and women. Yet, the facts of the case, and clearly the statements made the woman in the video, shows that females have and still play a very crucial part in the ISIS’s atrocities.

This is yet another example proving that ISIS women who claim they were deceived or forced into accepting what their ISIS husbands did are often not victims but active participants. For example, in Sweden, where an ISIS-affiliated woman, Lina Ishaq, is currently being prosecuted (with a verdict expected in mid-February 2025), her defense has been that she had no power or role in enslaving Ezidi children and women. However, both the facts of the case and statements like those made by the woman in the video suggest that females have played—and continue to play—a crucial role in ISIS atrocities.

These women have not only provided moral support to ISIS fighters but have also managed households where Ezidi slaves were kept. The ISIS fighters were the perpetrators on the battlefield, while the women controlled life in captivity. Although it is difficult to prove their crimes and prosecute them, it is essential that their home countries make every effort to do so instead of viewing them as passive, voiceless wives of terrorists. If anything, they are at least as guilty as the male terrorists.

These women have made it impossible for female victims to escape captivity. They have ensured that thousands of Ezidi women live in misery—and they have seemingly enjoyed their actions. Just look at what the woman in the video said: “A salute to ISIS for what they did to the Yazidis.” Is this the statement of an innocent woman?

Ezidi Times expects Belgian intelligence services to arrest this woman and investigate her connections to terrorists. It is likely that they will find others with similar extremist views, both men and women, whom she is in contact with. Just look at how fearless she is—openly declaring her support for ISIS. We expect her to be prosecuted, and we await a public trial and sentencing by the Belgian courts. This is clearly an endorsement of ISIS, hate speech against the Ezidis, and support for genocide.
