Film “Mediha” highlights courage and justice on International Women’s Day

A special screening of the film Mediha took place on March 8 in connection with International Women’s Day, bringing attention to the strength and resilience of a young Ezidi girl. The film, directed by Hasan Oswald, tells the story of Mediha, who survived abduction and enslavement by ISIS at the age of 15.

The documentary follows her journey after captivity as she searches for her missing family members while also trying to rebuild her life. At the same time, she pursues accountability, making the difficult decision to confront the man responsible for her suffering. Her story reflects both personal courage and a broader struggle for justice faced by many Ezidis.

The screening is part of a wider initiative linked to human rights awareness. It will be accompanied by discussions about the situation of Ezidis and ongoing efforts to support survivors. The event also connects to broader campaigns highlighting women who continue to face persecution for their activism in different parts of the world.

“Mediha” presents not only a story of survival, but also one of determination and agency. It offers a clear reminder of the importance of justice, recognition, and continued international attention to crimes committed against the Ezidi people.
