Book Review: The Kite Runner — A Story That Stays With You

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is not just a story, but an emotional journey that stayed in my mind even after I finished it. It is a fictional novel, but it feels very real because of its deep emotions and realistic characters.

The story is about Amir and Hassan, two boys who grow up together and spend their childhood side by side. However, Amir does not truly treat Hassan as his best friend, even though he may feel it inside but cannot express it. This made me think about how social class differences can affect people and make someone want to feel superior or be the only one.

Amir makes a decision that changes everything between them. Because of fear, he betrays Hassan in a very painful moment. Many readers might hate Amir for what he did, but I thought about it differently. I asked myself how I could judge a child who always wanted his father’s validation. What he did was wrong, but he could not face his guilt, so he chose to run away from it.

Hassan, on the other hand, understood everything, yet he remained loyal to Amir. He proved that unconditional love can truly exist. What I loved most about this book is how it shows that you cannot go back to the past and change it, and you cannot erase your mistakes because they are out of your control. However, the future is still yours, and you can choose to become a better person.

Overall, I would strongly recommend The Kite Runner. It is not an easy story, but it is an important one that everyone should read at least once.
